Yesterday we had Breakfast with Santa at Miriam's school. She wore a super cute reindeer shirt that they made in class...his face is Miriam's footprint and the antlers are her hands. Adorable.
Miriam started out OK. She got super excited when Santa came down the hall, "Der he is. He's here." Paul and I were excited that she might actually sit on his lap. This was Miriam's 3rd Santa attempt. She loves him from afar, but hits an invisible wall at about 3 feet. Stops DEAD in her tracks and wants nothing to do with him. We walked up and again she was super excited, clapped for the other kids who were sitting on Santa's lap. When it got to be her turn, she wasn't having it...as you can see.

We tried a few tricks that Santa had up his sleeve...the candy cane didn't work, the giggling elf didn't either. Being allowed to ring his bell at least allowed one arm off my shoulder.

Baby Jesus outside made it all better. Miriam is all about Baby Jesus. We fought for over a week over my nice nativity on the mantle. "Baby Jesus NOW Peeze" She had to hold him. Thankfully my mom bought her a Little People Nativity and her Aunt Allison bought her a Miss Pattycake Nativity, so Miriam has TWO Baby Jesus's of her own. She's ready. At church, there is a beautiful Miriam-sized nativity that we have to walk through every time we are near it...not sure how Father feels about it, but so far we haven't been reprimanded. Yesterday, she told me, "Baby Jesus tursty. Needs my juice." and she shared with Baby Jesus. At least she is sharing with someone!
