We celebrated Miriam's 2nd Birthday on her actual birthday, Sunday, December 7, 2008. We hosted her party in the Michael Jordan Room at Regions Park. Paul got us a deal!
It had a "Foofa" theme. For those that don't know, Foofa is a character on the weirdest show called "Yo Gabba Gabba". We love it and so does Miriam. They have really trippy characters and good music. Foofa is a sweet girl that loves flowers and making friends. Just like my girl!
All her friends with there and most of our family. We really appreciated those that traveled in, especially because the party was on a Sunday. Paul's SEC Football Championship game was on Saturday, so we couldn't have her party then. He works at it...didn't change the party date just so he could watch it. I'm not that cool of a wife :)

She totally knew what to do with her cake. Knew to wait until we finished singing and then blow out her candles. Knew that everyone would cheer. We practiced enough times. The night before, Momma, Frankie and Libba and I took her to CPK and we did a practice run. She had it down.
We had a jumpy thing that I have to say should have been blown up more. There were a few scary incidents of Miriam getting stuck in a corner and not being able to get out. Thanks to my friends who helped calm the other kids and jumped in there to get her.

It was really a special day for me and Paul. It was calm and we were able to enjoy Miriam and all her friends. We chose not to have it at our house so we wouldn't be freaking out about having enough room or cleaning up. It was so nice to just go to Regions Park and have the food catered and the drinks self-serve. We have an agreement that next years party will be super small with just Miriam and 4 or 5 friends. She's had two big parties now in a row and it's time to size them down.

We didn't open her gifts at the party. Though, looking back I really wish we had. The last few parties I've been to, they didn't open the gifts there and I didn't want to do anything too different. Next time, I'll listen to my own gut so I won't have regrets about it. We did have fun opening her presents with Bebe, JoeJoe and Aunt Linda and Uncle Dave at our house that evening. She received so many generous gifts...LOTS of baby doll accessories and dress up stuff.

As you can see, it was a long day for her and for us. But, a special one. I haven't had any moments like, 'I can't believe she's 2 years old.' I guess because I can believe it. Thankfully, this time hasn't flown by and I'm so lucky to have had this healthy, sweet, cutie cute, super funny girl in my life for the last two years.
