Miriam started dance class in late August and we love it. She had gotten slightly obsessed with Angelina Ballerina over the summer and I knew it was time to start her dancing. She has the sweetest teacher, Miss Charla and attends with some of the most adorable little girls. We wanted to teach her as much grace as possible and it's sort of working. It's not a traditional ballet class where they learn plies and first position...it's more like organized dancing around...if that make sense. Miss Charla has little 'follow the leader' songs and they have to copy her and they get to do some individual dancing. It's one of the cutest things ever and one of my highlights of motherhood. Of course, Miriam pays more attention to the songs than she does the music. She knows every word and melody to every song they have every sung in the class, but has a little trouble getting on her tip-toes. She is so musical, because of Paul's influence.
The tutu's are probably one of MY favorite things about dance class. This studio has no issue with whether they wear them and we go nuts. We currently have five tutus and would probably get more if I didn't think Paul would tell me to knock it off. Sadly, for me, she's realized that once she gets into the class (I don't go in with her) she can take the tutu off because it's scratchy. :(
Dance Class Day has become our favorite day of the week. I LOVE the interaction with the other moms...we joke that it's our "Mom Think Tank" because as we watch our girls we share stories, websites, sales, new boutique openings, discipline techniques, etc. It's been AWESOME knowing I'm not the only one dealing with a sassy and slightly unreasonable three year old. Angelina Ballerina would be proud.
